Colorado Court Records

The Colorado Courts website is designed to help the public understand the judicial system within the state. It identifies the different courts within the judicial system and outlines their functions and jurisdiction. It also reveals the hierarchical judicial structure, from trial courts to the Colorado Supreme Court, the state’s highest judicial authority.

The trial court system comprises the District Courts, County Courts, Municipal Courts, Water Courts, and Juvenile Courts. In contrast, the appellate court system consists of the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court.

Under the Public Access to Information and Records, Colorado Courts allow public access to various court records, including case proceedings, dockets, and judicial decisions. The state law also describes the request procedure for accessing records in the custody of government agencies at various levels. This website offers general instructions that assist the public with accessing Colorado Public Records where possible. However, it does not offer official court documents or provide legal advice.
